BICKERT, Careese Simmone

May 15, 1979 – Edmonton, Alberta
March 19, 2019 – Edmonton, Alberta

Careese Bickert of Edmonton, AB, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, March 19, 2019 at the age of 39 years.

Careese had a personality that would never be described as subtle; you knew it when she was in the room. She was very extroverted, sociable, humorous, and took pleasure in a conversation with anyone. She enjoyed playing the piano, swimming, and helping others when a need arose. And, she was one of the world’s great organizers. Above all, she enjoyed the company of friends and family. Careese’s genuine nature was unique and refreshing in a world filled with pretense. She was truly a delight to be around and easily made friends. Yet, she was tormented and struggled with a recurring darkness in her life. Those closest to her witnessed this struggle and the associated destruction. She was a great paradox: loving and accepting of everyone, yet yearning to feel loved and good enough to be loved.

Dedicated to her Roman Catholic faith, Careese readily differentiated right from wrong and was determined to rise above those insecurities and weaknesses that plagued her. No one can deny her desperate, persistent, and commendable efforts to be the best she could be.

“There is not enough darkness in all the world to put out the light of even one small candle.” – Robert Alden
The inextinguishable light Careese radiated will shine on in the lives of those she touched. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by so many.

Careese is survived by her children, Alyssa Bickert, and Tyler Roberts (formally known as Kennedy); her father, Dr. John Bickert; her mother, Gail Bickert; her brothers, Michael Bickert (Lana), Warren Raitt (Shannon); her sisters, Charmaine Imbeau (Dominic), Maria Bickert, and Andrea Berthe (Alejandro); her nephews, Jason, Ryan, and Joshua Bickert, Daniel Raitt, Joaquin, Luke, and Antonio Berthe; her nieces, Reilly and Mara Imbeau, Maria Raitt, Felicity Berthe, and Isabella Roberts. She will also be lovingly remembered by her ex-husband, Jeremy Roberts, partner, Rod O’Reilly; her ex-father-in-law, Peter Roberts; her ex-mother-in-law, Anne Roberts; her ex-brother-in-law, Sean Roberts (Kelly); her uncles, Dr. Paul Bickert (Marlene), Geoff Bickert, Q.C. (Sarah), and Dr. Patrick Bickert (Mary); her aunt, Janice Bickert; her cousins, Natalie and Taylor Bickert, and Charity Marvin (Peter), Tad Goddard, Sean, Neale, Greg (Dinel), David, Kathy, Sarah, and Michael Bickert, Matthew and Emily Bickert, Dr. Dwayne Hackett (Rita), Stephen and Gary Hackett; as well as numerous friends.

Careese was recently predeceased by her uncle Vernon Davidson.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. your departure was way too quick I enjoy every single moment didn’t matter if it was texting having a beer or just go for a ride every time i was around you were brightening up the room

your soul was good your heart was at the right place didn’t matter how hard life was you found a way to navigate through it and make the best out of it as a mother you tried your best every single time even when the road we’re getting divided you always kept the door open A lot of mom would just quit but you didn’t you kept trying

me and you had a bond like no one else you will be missed

now you could finally have a break that you deserve,I know the last few years were really rough, many time we can’t explain what life has for us or why it happens that way but now you are in good hands

you will be missed unfortunately lots of time people don’t realize it
till it’s too late you are one hell of a person I love you guts and your determination you kept going and going no matter what life has to offer you will be truly missed by all of us
