Gilles Gerard Bélanger, beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 14, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Gilles was born in Montreal, QC July 4, 1943. He graduated with a degree in business at McMaster University, ON. Gilles worked for BP Oil before joining TRW Automotive in 1972. He retired in 1992 after 20 years.
Gilles enjoyed cooking, baking and had a true passion for canvas painting. Enjoyed all sports but most of all his Montreal “Habs”. His love for music consisted of the crooners of the 50’s and 60’s and the era of the big bands.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Lucie, of 47 years, his devoted sons and daughters-in-law. Patrick, Becky, Francois, Jodina and his pride and joy his grand-sons Maddox and Emmett. He will be missed by his sister Monique, sister-in law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces and friends.
Gilles was predeceased by his loving mother, Flo and brother Louis.
A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on June 5, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Another memorial will be held in Montreal at a later date. The family’s deep gratitude goes to the tremendous care he received at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, from doctors to the tender care and support from the nursing staff and the Palliative Team.
