BEDFORD, John Blair (Jack)

November 7, 1955 – Calgary, Alberta
April 26, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

John (Jack) Blair Bedford passed away in his home on Friday, April 26, 2019, after living a “SUPERNATURAL” life.

Jack was born in Calgary on November 7, 1955. He was a fearless adventurer that lived with fierce courage, positivity, strength, generosity, and grace like no other. He loved mountains, cool prairie air, hockey, music, his faith, and most of all, his family and friends.

He will be remembered and loved forever by his two adoring daughters, Lee and Julie (Dan); his grandson, Hayden; his seven brothers and sisters, Rita, Wendy (Kerry), Tom, Lynne, Dennis (Roxy), Duncan (Lee), and David (Remie); his many nieces and nephews; his former wife and dear friend, Carolyn; his devoted caregivers, Deomelisa and Vidalyn; and more friends and admirers than we can count.

He was a professional painter until his accident in 1992. After his accident, his presence continued to paint the world, making it brighter for every person he came across.

A Supernatural Celebration of Life will be held for Jack in Calgary this Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Community Association (602 22 Avenue NW – main upstairs hall), with a show played by his SuperNatural Jam Band at 8:30 p.m. (doors at 7:00 p.m.) at the Thorncliff Greenview Community Association TG Lounge (5600 Centre Street N – south entrance). Please feel free to wear colourful clothing to both or either if you wish, as Jack wanted this to be a joyous affair.

In lieu of flowers and in tribute to Jack’s love of playing hockey with his friends in the Calgary Power Hockey League, we are planning to make a donation to the League in his name. Donations will be collected by Julie and can be made in person or by email transfer to julieirenebedford@gmail.com (no password required). “Thank you, very happy”.

“When I get to heaven, I’m gonna shake God’s hand
Thank him for more blessings than one man can stand
Then I’m gonna get a guitar and start a rock-n-roll band”
~ John Prine

  7. Deepest condolences to Jacks entire family & all his friends. He was a huge part of the hockey league and his presence will be missed beyond what words can describe. He was always positive, a great guy the first time I met him and the last time I saw him – he never changed. He was a unique and special character that made the league better and much more interesting. As a player on the court I was amazed at his skills. He was a strong competitor when that was needed and a lighthearted teammate when that’s what was required.

He will be greatly missed, but we were all so blessed to have him be a huge part of the league.

Sending positive vibes and love to all who knew him.
