BECKER, George Albert

George Albert Becker beloved husband of Katherine of Okotoks, AB, passed away on August 17, 2018 at the age of 81 years.

George Albert Becker was born May 24, 1937 in Cabri, Saskatchewan. He was the third child of Rose and Harry Becker. George lived most of his childhood years in Empress, Alberta, where his first job was driving an Esso truck. He met his wife Katherine (Kay) Mackenzie in Empress and they were married on October 3, 1959. His first daughter, Sandra, was born August 5, 1960, his son, Gordon Michael, on January 31, 1963, and his second daughter, Susan on November 11, 1964.

His first career was with Alberta Wheat Pool, which took him to Pultney and Halkirk, Alberta. He then changed careers and worked in gas plants in Burstall, Saskatchewan, and Cochrane, Alberta. George then became a field operator for Murphy Oil in Brooks, Alberta, and then became a field supervisor in the Calgary office. After retirement, he became a consultant in the oil patch.

George was active in many sports including hockey, baseball, curling, and golf.

Aside from his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Kay, George is survived by his daughters Sandra, and Susan and her husband Rick; granddaughter Amy-Lynn, grandson Daniel, and great granddaughter Tianna. He is also survived by his brother, Peter Becker, and sisters, Betty McKenna, and Maureen Bender.

George was predeceased by, his son, Gordon Michael, and his parents, Rose and Harry Becker.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB), on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
