ARSENAULT, Marjorie Anne (Joanne)(nee Garcia)

December 31, 1967 – Manila, Philippines
May 13, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

Joanne Arsenault of Calgary passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the age of 51 years.

Joanne was born in Manilla, Philippines on December 31, 1967 but moved to Canada as a baby.

Joanne graduated from Lord Beaverbrook High School in 1985. Joanne accomplished much through her life and was particularly proud of being a “Gigi” (grandma). Violet and Emmett were her pride and joy and she loved sharing their photos and videos with everyone and anyone who was around. Joanne loved music and to sing and dance. She loved all types of music but especially the 80’s dance hits and anything with a thumpin’ beat. She loved Gilmore Girls and likened herself and her daughter to be the real life “Lorelai and Rory”. She would spend hours watching old movies and reality TV like the Bachelor, Survivor and The Amazing Race. She devoured any type of baked good with lots of butter and was never without a cup of coffee.

Joanne is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Demi Harder and Zachary Harder, of Cochrane, AB; and son, Blake Arsenault, of Calgary, AB, and two grandchildren, Violet Harder and Emmett Harder of Cochrane, AB. Joanne is also survived by her parents, Miriam Pabustan, (Nestor) Pabustan of Gapan City, Philippines and Arturo (Christine) Garcia, of Manila, Philippines; sister and brother-in-law, Michelle Duggan and Wes Anderson of Calgary, AB; as well as nephew Joshua Garcia and niece Stephanie Duggan of Calgary, AB; half-sister Jessica Garcia; adopted brother Elijah Moses Pabustan; step-brother Karsten Mendoza; Aunt Shirley and Uncle Deo; Uncle Tyrone (Boy) and Aunt LaRainne; Aunt Eileen, Aunt Jeannette, Aunt Beth, Uncle Catalino and Aunt Elizabeth Garcia; Aunt Millicent Aperocho; co-parents-in-law Eva and John Harder; and cousins, Marc, Dion, Sheryl, Paul, Matt, Danica, Krystal, Jayryl, Melanie, Dan, David, Andre, Boeden and Cyril. Joanne was predeceased by her sister Melissa Garcia, cousin Jennyca, Uncle Jaime and her beloved dog Merengue.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, May 17, 2019 from 2:00 to 6:30 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB) on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. The family requests that those attending the service wear white instead of the usual black funeral attire. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com. The family wishes to thank the Foothills ICU doctors and staff for their services.

In living memory of Joanne Arsenault, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.

Joanne’s last wish was to have a photo of everyone at her deathbed.
Even in sickness, she wanted to capture the memory of having family together.
