Condolences for the family of “ANDRES, Gloria Jean”

Condolence from Kris Pyke and Lloyd Weisbrod on December 17th, 2013 2:51 PM

We met Gloria and Don two years ago. We were blessed to spend so much time with her before her departure. When Gloria sang to us a month ago it was the most beautiful music I had ever heard, even though she was on oxygen. When she took ill, I was fortunate to stay by her side until Sunday. We laughed, we cried, we shared stories and spoke of the things we had to look forward to. RIP Gloria, we will miss you forever and forever love you. Thank you also for including us in your journey…We will never forget you…..Love Always Kris, Lloyd and Chico. xoxoxo

I just wanted to say how very sorry I am to hear about your loss, Don. While I was married to Cam and we were all friends, I loved Gloria like a sister. I hated that I had to leave her behind when my marriage to Cam ended. I missed her then, and I will miss her now even more.
God Speed, Don.

Condolence from Sherri Kilburn on December 18th, 2013 8:18 AM

Gloria was one of the first people I met back in 1991 when I started with CWNG. She always shared her love of crafts, pets and her husband (not necessarily in that order). I always enjoyed catching up with her as our paths crossed throughout the years and wanted you to know that Gloria has left an everlasting “paw print” on my heart. I am so sorry for your loss and I will remember her always.

Donald, I am sorry to hear of Gloria’s passing. I knew Gloria from our many years at the ‘Gas Company’ and first met her when she worked the concession over at the Service Centre. She always loved to share her stories and talk about her pets. Her absence has been noticed here at ATCO and her presence will be missed; she will always be remembered. Rest in Peace Gloria.

Condolence from Bev Bryant on December 18th, 2013 6:12 PM

I am saddened to hear of Gloria’s passing.
I first met Gloria 35 years ago at the old CWNG building on 6th Avenue & 1st Street while she was working at Junior’s Cafeteria. She was the one who showed me how to core a head of iceberg lettuce. (Sometime the smallest kind gesture always stays with you)! She was a kind, considerate and caring lady. I remember you were both always willing to lend a hand at the ATCO picnic. I know you will miss her terribly.
Yours in friendship

Condolence from Iris Fox on January 2nd, 2014 2:08 AM

There is a huge hole in my heart having known and loved Gloria since she was eight. She brought joy into my life in so many ways.
I am thankful for the many celebrations we had together. Her favorite meal was pork roast and it was fascinating to watch how she could put just the right combination of meat, potatoes, gravy and apple sauce on each and every fork full!
She had a strong independent spirit. She and Don planned everything for their wedding day before she even told her dad and I. It was her day, her way,…and she glowed!
She wanted to get her GED and her tenacity and perseverance paid off. How proud I was of her the day of her graduation.
Much has been said of Gloria’s beautiful singing voice. How we will miss it! She also showed her love of music through square dancing for many years starting when she was in jr. high.
It is said that you know a lot about a person when you know what makes them angry. Injustice made Gloria angry. Is it any wonder that her love of animals pairing with her hate of injustice led to her adopting rescue dogs?
It has been my experience when I have left a job that I did not miss the work but I did miss the people. Gloria missed her co-workers and they missed her as demonstrated by the number who attended her service of remembrance.
Gloria and her half-brother. Mel had a special bond. I remember with fondness how she beamed whenever he walked into the room!
Gloria and Don took pride in being the first to be at the airport to greet Wanda (sister) Rick, Aaron and Joel from Australia or Shelley (half-sister) Josh, Isabel and Alex from England. But I cannot recall that they were ever at the airport to say goodbye. God knew that goodbyes were hard for Gloria so her goodbye to us was short.
Mel and I were remembering how much Gloria loves Christmas. (Thank-you Kris for helping her put up her tree this year) If they celebrate Christmas in heaven it must have been the best one ever with Gloria in charge of festivities.
I am hoping that the gratefulness I feel for what Gloria has brought into my life will eventually ease some of the pain caused by the huge hole she has left in my heart.
Till we meet again,
Love you always ,
