ADAMCIK, Lorraine Adele (nee Dudley)

July 25, 1953 – High River, Alberta
April 6, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that the family of Lorraine Adele Adamcik announces her sudden passing on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at the age of 65 years.

Lorraine was born in High River, AB on July 25, 1953. She was an active member of the Cambrian Heights Church in Calgary, where she helped whoever she could whenever she could. Lorraine accomplished much through her life, she was particularly proud of that she was able to retire and be a part of all of her grandchildren’s lives. Lorraine loved to be with her dogs, she adored her beautiful colourful garden, and she was the biggest Calgary Flames fanatic. She enjoyed going on vacation, and if she was not in Calgary then she was in Texas visiting her grandchildren there. She will be most remembered for her love of dragonflies and wind chimes, and her absolute love of shoes, but mainly for always being there for anyone who needed anything.

Lorraine will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Tammy of Texas and son Trevor of Calgary. She will be greatly missed by her four grandchildren, Zachery Bomer, Braeden Bomer, Jeremie Bomer, and Corey Liberto of Texas; and by her two grandchildren, Austin and Ayden Adamcik of Calgary. Lorraine is also survived her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bill Cornwell of Lacombe; as well as her five nieces, Corinne Moran, Jenny Truchon, Katie Lemire, Melissa Cyr, and Lindsay Cornwell; and nephew Shane Cornwell.

Lorraine was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Judy Dudley.

Funeral Services will be held at Cambrian Heights Baptist Church (240 Cardiff Dr NW, Calgary) on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 6:00p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.McInnisandHolloway.com.

In living memory of Lorraine Adamcik, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road SE, Calgary, AB, T2X 3J3, Telephone: 403-256-9575.

Condolence Messages

  1. Lorraine was always so vibrant, such a cutie. I met her at Kingsway Insurance many years ago now, and have so many memories, so many chuckles. Oh, her butter tarts were the best. How she loved to tell us about her grandchildren, so proud of all of them. Tammy & Trevor, I am so sorry for your terrible loss. Please know how much I am thinking of you & your families during this sad time.

  2. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints – Psalm 116:15

My daughters fondly called Lorraine ‘Grandma L.’
I cant believe you’re gone. You ‘adopted’ my 2 daughters and treated them like your own. 2018 Christmas, you bought them 2 red dresses and many other gifts that no natural grandma can beat. On 30th March, 2019, we saw, chatted and hugged, not knowing it was the last time.

Thank you for being a huge part of my family’s journey in Canada. My home is filled with many large blankets, hand knitted by you in everyone’s favorite color. Thank you for loving us, you didn’t know us from Adam, we are Africans but you loved us like we’re all the same. I must say that since migrating from Africa 10 years ago, I have not known love from a westerner like the love you had for us. I will miss your love and I know my family may never again be lucky enough to be loved and appreciated the way you did. You respected us and valued the differences. You checked on my family every single week since your retirement.

Mofe and Mowa are too little to understand this, they always expect to receive stuff from you and will be heartbroken when they eventually realize there’s no one in Canada to call grandma ever again.

Thank you mama Lorraine as I always called you.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
The world needs more people like you Grandma L.

  5. I am deeply saddened by the news of Lorraine’s passing. She was elegant in every way. The way she dressed and her love of ‘shoes’. Her immense concern for others and kindness influenced my life in so many ways. Last Christmas she finished knitting 200 scarfs and donated them for people in need. A life taken away too soon. Her beautiful spirit will live on through her kids and grandchildren. And she loved them so so much. I will miss her so much. My deepest condolences to her family in this difficult time.

  11. I met Lorraine in the late seventies when we both worked at Canadian Home Assurance. I have many fond memories of those times. Our Friday night dates watching Dallas with a bottle of Baby Duck, playing baseball with the company team, lots of laughter at work, etc. Tammy and Trevor and families, my heart goes out to you.
