YOUNG, Myrle Patricia

September 16, 1922 – November 23, 2012

Myrle Patricia Young (Bayley) passed away peacefully on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Edgemont Retirement Residence, Calgary.

Myrle was born in Winnipeg on September 16, 1922 to Della Mary and Thomas Lee Bayley. Growing up, she attended Mulvey School and graduated from Gordon Bell High School in 1941. She joined the R.C.A.F. (Womens’ Division) and served in the canteen at the No. 7 Bombing and Gunnery School in Paulson, Manitoba until she was discharged in February, 1945. In August 1945 she married Laurence A. Young at Young United Church in Winnipeg. After raising their daughters, they enjoyed travelling to Barbados, England, Switzerland and The Netherlands. In their retirement years, they spent several winters in Clearwater, Florida. They were divorced in 1983 and she moved to Victoria, B.C. to be closer to her sister, Irene. In 1993 she moved to Calgary, AB., where she resided until her death. A devoted mother and grandmother, Myrle was always interested in her family’s activities. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially bird watching and flower gardens. She was a member of several walking groups including the Brentwood Mall Walkers, as well as participating in bowling and curling leagues.

Myrle will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Marilyn (Bill) Goedegebuure and Susan (Richard) Sawka; grandchildren Peter(Maybeth) Goedegebuure, Julie (Jeremy) Kehler, Paul Sawka, and Amy Sawka; five great-grandchildren, Danielle, Sam, Ben, Simone and Drew; cousin Gail Iler; niece Linda (Wally) Price and many other nephews and nieces.

She was predeceased by her step-sister Irene (McNutt) West and step-brothers leRoy and Carl McNutt.

A small family service will be held to celebrate Myrle’s life. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
