YOUNG, David Thomas

September 9, 1942 – August 5, 2012

David Thomas Young passed away gently just before sunrise on Sunday, August 5, 2012.

David was a man deeply loved by many and we mark with tremendous pride a life lived with passion, commitment, love and tenacity. We hold close the memory of a man of many skills, humour, creativity and integrity. His delight in his family, for the clean lines of open water from the bow of his canoe, the companionship of his chocolate lab, Kona, and for all things with wheels, particularly bicycles, continues to inspire and move us.

David is survived by his wife Dorna (neé Huston), his children Braden and Bryanne, and by his brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Jackie.

A Celebration of David’s Life will be held at Lakeview United Church (3023 – 63 Avenue S.W., Calgary) on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through If friends so desire, memorial donations in David’s name may be made directly to The Prostate Cancer Foundation, Southern Alberta Institute of Urology, 6500 7007 – 14 Street S.W. Calgary, AB T2V 1P9

In living memory of David Young, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200

  3. Richard and Frances Young :

Frances and I offer sincere condolences to David’s family on the loss of their loved one.

As a first cousin to David, I have many fond memories of our brief times together in our growing years in Edmonton. Our lives took us in different directions and I regret that we hadn’t maintained better contact over the years although he was often in my thoughts.

The thing that stands out most in my memory is his sense of fun, quick wit and humor. I know he will be dearly missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
