YELLOW FLY, Arthur (Apowa-si) “Horse Mane”

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Yellow Fly beloved father and grandfather on Saturday October 11, 2014 at the age of 90 years old.

Art was born on January 23, 1924 at Siksika. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and brother in law. Art was respected by all who knew him. Art attended Old Sun residential school. He loved watching his favorite sport, hockey especially when his grandchildren were on the ice.

Art is survived by his son Delbert (Jackie); daughters Eileen (Hanks), Shirley, Paulyne; his adopted kids, Anne Marie (Leonard), Laura (Gerald) and Ryan (Annette); grandchildren, Damion, Kenny (Jean), Tracy (Roland), Tyson, Troy, Chelsey (Adri), Ramsey (Lexi) and Eduardo; great-grandchildren Hope, Trazom, Hayven, Marquet, Ashton, Milla and Tienna; sister, Virginia Medicine Traveller; brother Noel Yellow Fly; nephew Donald (Justine) Yellow Fly; sisters–in-law, Cecilia Many Heads and Cecile Many Guns; brother in law, Albert Many Bears, as well as numerous relatives, nieces & nephews. His relatives Ayoungman, Water Chief, Fox, Pretty Youngman, Raw Eater, Stimson, Bull Bear, Little Chiefs and Weasel Child. Art was predeceased by his loving wife Theresa (1993), son Morris, daughter Carol Wells (2001), parents Teddy & Jane Yellow Fly and Brothers Gordon, Gibbon, Percy, Kenneth and Ernest, his grandmother Elsie Boy Chief, aunties Rosie Ayoungman and Annie Fox and many close family members. The family would like to apologize for anyone we missed that was important in Arts life.

Wake services will be at his residence in Many Bears flats, Siksika Nation, on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 6:00 pm. Funeral Service will be at the Holy Trinity Church, Siksika Nation on October 17, 2014 at 11:00 am. Burial will at the Many Bears Flats Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Elders Lodge staff and Strathmore Hospital staff for their loving kindness and patience.
