WORSLEY, Edna May (nee Buckborough)

August 6, 1923– Darlington, Yorkshire, England
November 25, 2013 – Calgary, Alberta

Edna May Worsley, much loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away after a three month illness at the Beverly Care Centre Glenmore on Monday, November 25, 2013 at the age of 90 years.

Edna was proud to be a veteran and met her beloved husband Norman in 1944 whilst both serving in the British Army. In 1976, they courageously immigrated to Calgary at the age of fifty-three to join their children and extended family. Edna joined Reed Stenhouse until retirement in 1987. Edna loved nature and all wildlife, kept a large aviary of birds in England, was a volunteer at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary in Calgary, and spent many hours creating beautiful tapestries, lace, knitted garments and pursuing our genealogy. Edna loved gardening, poetry and playing the organ. In her later years, she spent many hours typing the narrative and reproducing the artwork for the books produced by Norman.

Edna will be greatly missed by her husband Norman Worsley of sixty-eight years; her son Robert (Debbie) Worsley; daughter Heather (John) Gibbs; grandchildren, Katherine (Colin) Worsley, Vanessa (Mike) Rolph and Melanie (Alden) Cox; great-grandchildren, Donovan, Ethan and Vanessa; and her many nieces and nephews in the UK and Canada.
