Melanie Gail Won of Calgary passed away peacefully on May 31, 2012 at the age of 50 years.
Although faced with many challenges, Melanie lived a very full and vital life, taking interest in many activities. She was an artist, musician and lover of all things Christmas, Johnny Cash and Stompin’ Tom. Many people touched her life and the family would like to recognize their dedication and support to Melanie and advocacy for persons with disabilities; especially the former and current staff of DDRC, Community Living Network, her supportive roommates and their families, and the Society for the Treatment of Autism. Special thanks are extended to the staff of AHS Calgary Renal Clinic and Palliative Home Care.
Mourning her loss are her sisters, Pam Won (Ken Yeung) and Stephanie Won; nieces and nephews, Bronwyn White (Nate), Whitney Gagnon (Denis), Keegan Jones, Andrew Yeung, Anna Yeung, and great niece Elissa White. Melanie was predeceased by her parents Eldred and Helene Won in 1983 and 1990, respectively.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 3 p.m. Rev. Dr. Samson Cho of Calgary Chinese United Church, officiating. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
