After a long and courageous battle with Lupus and Crohn’s Disease, Our Dear Lord Jesus has taken our Precious Angel Bonnie home on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the age of 54 years.
She was the daughter of Alice and the Late Kenneth Big Snake, born on March 30, 1959. During her early childhood years Bonnie was very active and mischievous. She loved exploring the outdoors and was involved in the care of the family farm. She loved baseball, golf, horseback riding, basketball, volleyball and numerous other sports and activities. Bonnie took an interest in many different crafts. She was involved with several Siksika organizations: Cursillo Movement, Pilgrimage, Youth Search, Brave Dogs Society and for fun and entertainment Bonnie also was a member of Siksika Nations Rez version of “The Beatles”. She worked for The Siksika Tribal Administration in the following departments; Housing, Health Services, Healing Centre, Justice and worked in various other areas. During her life, she was devoted to Our Saviour Jesus Christ, living a life as a strong Catholic. Bonnie made it possible for many of her friends and family to know Jesus. Devoting her prayers daily, she became strong willed which was key in the battle with her illness.
Bonnie is survived by her husband Francis “Butch” Wolfleg; children Darlas, Kaylee, Dalaree, Darrin, Kennedy, Jodi, Kerry, Shelby and Lisa; grandchildren Kaylem, Hannah, Simon, Louis, Darlene “Miracle”, Alejandro, Darius, Dazareth, Lennox, Marcus, Justin, Camille, Abby, Lainey, Sheila, Daryl and Jax; siblings Terrylene (Ronald) Many Heads, Carlon “Dogie” (Lisa) Big Snake, Kendra Big Snake, Rick (Eulalia) Running Rabbit, Romeo Crow Chief, Pam (Fred) Rabbit Carrier, Ethel Running Rabbit, Curtis (Maria) Big Snake, Jayme (Allison) Red Crow; in-laws Allan, Mark Jr., Mervin, Clarence, Alvine, Colleen, and extended families Big Snake, Breaker, Doore, Running Rabbit, Duck Chief, Crane, Spring Chief, Own Chief, Good Eagle, Drunken Chief, Poor Eagle, Crane Bear, Many Heads, Leather, Wolfleg, Crow Chief, Three Suns, and from the United States families St. Goddard, Rides At The Door, Long Time Sleeping, Hall, Stone and Deroche.
She was predeceased by her twin boys Francis and William Wolfleg; sister Debby Spotted One; brother-in-law Timothy Spotted One, Uncle Gregory Running Rabbit; Aunts Helen Solway, Audrey Crane and Jane Drunken Chief; and grandparents Simon and Almena Big Snake, Louis and Alice Running Rabbit.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Francis (Butch) and the Late Bonnie Wolfleg on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. for Family and 6:00 p.m. for Friends. Funeral Services will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Siksika Nation on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00 a.m with Rev. Tomy Manjaly.
