WOLD, James Arthur “Jim”

July 31, 1941 – Lac du Bonnet, MB
June 7, 2014 – Calgary, AB

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the death of James “Jim” Wold, who passed from this earth very peacefully in the presence of his family on June 7, 2014 in Calgary.

Jim was a gentle, kind and patient soul who valued his family above all else. He will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Angela, and his only daughter Lori, along with her husband Ian and his grandchildren, the true loves of his life, Angelina and Brianna. He is also survived by his sisters Jeanne and Darlene, and brothers Percy and Dennis.

Born in Lac Du Bonnet, Manitoba on July 31, 1941, Jim grew up in a large family of his parents, Art and Helen, and 6 siblings. He married Angela and moved to Calgary to build their life in 1965.

Jim was a very humble and hard-working man who dedicated himself to his long-standing career as a Sheet Metal Mechanic and Insulator, and was employed for many years in Peace River, as well as other areas of Alberta. After retiring in 2007, Jim returned to Calgary to spend even more time with his loved ones. Any day that the sun was shining, and even when it was not, you could find him dreaming of his other lifelong passion, fishing. He relished the outdoors, and was eager to spend his leisure time outside with friends and family, especially his adoring granddaughters.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at the Foothill Hospital, Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Palliative Care, and particularly all of the staff at the Chinook Hospice. Their compassionate care went above and beyond in providing peace and comfort to both Jim and his family during his final days.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of this amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend to many will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through If friends so desire memorial tributes may be made to the Chinook Hospice via “The Foundation for Seniors Care – Hearts of Excellence” c/o Intercare Corporate Group Inc. 211 Heritage Drive SE Calgary, AB, T2H 1M9.

In living memory of Jim Wold, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Calgary, AB, T2S 2L5, Telephone: 403-243-8200.

  4. Faith and Paul Toth :

Dear Lori, Ian, Angelina, Brianna and Grandma Angela,

Our sincere condolences on the passing of your father Lori. Although we didn’t see Jim much, whenever we did he was always happy and smiling and together with your mother he raised a beautiful daughter who we were lucky enough to share time with on a few camping trips. Please pass on our condolences to your Mom, Lori, and celebrate the life of your father who I know you loved so much.

    Faith and Paul
