WODYNSKI, Tai Karl

June 7, 1995 – April 15, 2012

Tai was tragically and suddenly taken from us on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the too young age of 16 years. Broken-hearted by his loss, we nevertheless remember the way Tai touched innumerable people during his life with his kind heart, his warm and calm nature, and his generous, giving spirit.

Tai was a high honours student at Bishop Grandin High School, where he excelled in all subjects. He had a particular facility for mathematics, which came to him effortlessly, and was an ardent reader, enjoying sci-fi, fantasy and action books. A born achiever with diverse interests, Tai had a poem published as a young boy, played piano, and more recently enjoyed his part-time job at the Macleod Trail Canadian Tire.

Tai was also an athlete, and played a huge range of sports. In soccer, he was a strong goalkeeper on many teams during his youth. Squash, golf, swimming and recently football were some of the many other sports he loved.

Tai was a devoted brother, son and friend. Astute with computers and technology, he served as personal i.t. support for numerous family and friends, participated in fundraising efforts for his sister’s band activities, and was always known for reaching out to help others. He also made a mean quesadilla.

A fun-loving spirit, Tai treasured spending time with his Grandpa – golfing and fishing. He spent many happy days at his family’s summer vacation place on Gleniffer Lake, boating and enjoying the outdoors with his lake friends. He loved hot beach holidays, and had travelled to Hawaii, Mexico and Cuba – where he was always up for adventures like zip lines and caving.

Tai is survived by his parents Patricia and Edward Wodynski, his sister Mikaila, half brother Shaun (Leona) Wodynski, niece Lidia, grandmother May Jasinski, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to Kids Help Phone, 300 – 439 University Ave., Toronto, ON M5G 1Y8, Telephone: 1-800-268-3062.

In living memory of Tai Wodynski, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.

While the loss of a loved one is never easy, it is most certainly the hardest when they are taken from us too soon. Your recent loss of your son who has left us at such a youthful age is certainly in the category of those hard losses for which there is so painful a reminder of what might have been.

We offer our sincere condolence and deepest sympathy on your loss. May the outpouring of sympathy, the kind acts of friends and strangers and the comfort in knowing that your loss is felt by many, help you through this difficult time.

May you find the courage and strength to move forward in peace and confidence and in knowing that his was a life well-lived.

  20. We knew of Tai through mutual neighbours and always looked forward to seeing Tai and Family at seasonal gatherings. On one of those evenings, our son, Liam, took a special interest in Tai – the older boy and role model. I remember coming downstairs seeing Liam sitting on Tai’s lap and I knew then there was something very special about Tai. His big brother kindness, his generosity, and welcoming hand, was heart-warming. We are struggling through this tragic loss and can only offer our sincerest condolences. Our hearts and prayers are with you all during this extremely difficult time.

Tai’s passing is a terrible tragedy for me; we have a history from kindergarten on and he was such a good friend to me. Even now after we had kind of grown apart in the past few years, still he is someone that I know very well, especially as an intelligent, accepting, and very polite human being.
