A LOVING HUSBAND, A WONDERFUL DAD, PAPA, BROTHER, SON-IN-LAW AND FRIEND TO SO MANY….
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Greg Winthers, Sunday January 19, 2014. As he wished and in keeping with the strengths of ‘home’, he was surrounded by love and care by his family throughout his final journey.
Greg was a Calgary boy, born and raised. He loved this City and the opportunities he had to contribute to his community. He was proud to work for Starrs, Associated & Universal Ambulance Services and to manage Tip Top Tailors at North Hill Mall and Market Mall. He considered the chance to join the Calgary Cannons Baseball Club, from its inception to closing day, a privilege and one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences of his life. He treasured this opportunity and the amazing friendships that continued long after closing day. He was also proud to serve in many volunteer capacities for youth, sports, Boards and community projects. On his behalf we extend appreciation to the medical, pulmonary and palliative teams, and close friends, whose guidance and support added to the quality of his life and death.
Greg is missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Leone (Lou); daughters Tara (Corey) Winthers-Norris; Patty (Andre) Fjellstad; grandchildren Brittany Fjellstad and Cassandra Norris; brother Garr (Maria) Winters of Ontario; mother-in-law Marguerite Jones; brother-in-law Lloyd Jones; cousins Bill & Neidra Marshall of Arizona as well as many extended family and very special friends.
