Aubrey Winter, beloved husband of Dorothy Winter of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the age of 89 years.
Early in his career Aubrey and his brother Ken had a flooring business. He then joined Canada Post where he worked for thirty years, retiring as a supervisor. Aubrey loved sports and refereed with Big Six Hockey League. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, wood working and travelling. Aubrey loved the Stampede and his hobby was making western bolo ties and jewellery. He was a people person always making everyone feel welcome. His greatest enjoyment was his family. Aubrey was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Chapelhow Branch #284, was one of the original members of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary and was a proud member of the Association of Retired Postal Employees.
Besides his loving wife of sixty-four years, Aubrey is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Jacquie Winter; daughter Pat Winter; two grandchildren, Tamara Winter and Ryan Winter; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Merv (Mary), Vern (Jean) and Ken.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
