WINDREM, Orville (Orv) Cecil

August 31, 1925 – Briarcrest, SK
February 11, 2015 – Calgary, AB

Orv, beloved husband of Jo (Joalyne) of Calgary passed peacefully Wednesday on February 11th, 2015.

Orv was born in Briercrest Saskatchewan on August 31st, 1925. During his long career in the Oil industry, Orville lived and worked in Toronto, Montreal, New York, and Caracas Venezuela and finally retired in Calgary in 1988 as Vice President Corporate Affairs at Texaco Canada. Orv served in England in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1944 to 1946 then attended the University of Saskatchewan where he earned a Business degree prior to joining Texaco. Orv looked forward to regularly visiting his farm in Saskatchewan. He liked to garden in his Calgary home, loved his pets, and photographed his travels. Orv loved entertaining his friends and family. His greatest joy was to travel and share time with his dear wife Jo and to spend time with their friends at their winter residence in Mesa, Arizona. Orv and Jo were central figures in the busy social scene at the Monte Vista resort in Mesa. He loved driving and was a consummate “tour guide” when friends came to visit in Arizona. He will be dearly missed there during the winter months. During the “off season” they enjoyed numerous cruises in the Caribbean Islands, and throughout Europe during their 10+ year “extended honeymoon”.
Orv was a true gentleman, always eager to help friends, family, and members of his church in times of need. His quick wit and engaging smile will be missed by all that were fortunate to know and love him.

Orv leaves his wife and best friend Joalyne (Jo); his sister Audrey Spicer of Briercrest Saskatchewan; his sister-in-law Judy Windrem of Kelowna, British Columbia; step-children Cindy Moore (Dwight Wilson) and Bill Moore (Debbie). Orv was pre-deceased by his first wife Trudy (nee Johnson) in 1996 and his brother Ron Windrem in 2009.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
