Ruby Wilson of Calgary passed away at the Colonel Belcher Care Centre on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the age of 90 years.
Ruby was born February 28, 1922 to Frank and Ellen Jackson of Didsbury, Alberta. She grew up on the family farm at Didsbury where she attended the Melvin School and the Didsbury High School. Ruby took a secretarial course in Calgary. Later, she joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Ottawa, Ontario.
In 1945, she married Harold Clifford Wilson. Harold and Ruby worked and resided in Ottawa, Ontario; Dawson City, Yukon; Whitehorse, Yukon; and Yellowknife, NWT. Upon retirement, they spent winters at Desert Hot Springs, California and summers in Alberta. Ruby and Harold were among the first people to move into the present Colonel Belcher complex.
Ruby is survived by her sister Hazel (Don) Sawyer of Edmonton; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Harold; parents Frank and Ellen Jackson; and sisters, Irene (Bob) Nimmons, Pearl (Bill) Higgins, and Doris (Jim) Saunders.
