Willison, Jack Charles

It is with the heaviest of hearts but a profound belief in eternal life that our family announces the passing of Jack Willison on Friday, August 11, 2006. Jack passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of his wife of fifty-three years, Helen, and surrounded by his children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He fought fiercely against a cancer that was just too tough to beat, even for him.

Jack was born on the farm at Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, and finished his schooling there before moving on to the University of Saskatchewan, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce. He began his career with Imperial Oil Limited in Regina and was transferred to Calgary in 1959. Jack enjoyed thirty successful years with Imperial and made his mark in the oil and gas industry as a Director and President of the Canadian Gas Processors Association, and Founding Father and Inaugural President of the Petroleum Joint Venture Association. After retirement in 1987, Jack and Helen made the most of their hard earned leisure years by travelling extensively around the world, golfing at Priddis Greens and spending generous amounts of time with their three children, eight grandchildren and great granddaughter. Throughout Jack and Helen’s forty-seven years in Calgary, the constant in their lives was their commitment and devotion to Grace Presbyterian Church. Jack gave his time unconditionally to Grace and in return was rewarded by the friendship and loving support of its Congregation.

In addition to his wife Helen, Jack is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Sharon; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lois and Richard Dargis, and Marilyn Visser; grandchildren, Shauna (Alex), Steve, Jennifer, Christine (Bobby), Rebecca, Sean, Lisa, and Sam; great-granddaughter Taylor; brother Alphaeus Willison; and sister Mary Stickle.

A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church (1009 – 15th Avenue S.W.) on Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Victor Kim, Presider.
