On Saturday, October 4, 2014, Betty Willison passed away peacefully at the age of 93.
Betty was born in 1921 in Leeds, England, and was the youngest of eight children. She spent many happy hours telling tales of her life growing up. She joined the Women’s Air Force in Britain for World War II, where she was a teleprinter operator. During the war she met her husband Stanley, and they married in 1947. She spent 58 loving years together with Stanley before his sudden passing in 2006. Together they had two children, Diane Ablett and David (d. 1972). In 2006, Betty moved to Canada to live with Diane and her family.
Betty is survived by her daughter Diane and son-in-law David Ablett; grandchildren James, Catherine, Ruth and Jonathan; and great-grandchildren Rachel, Marcus, Edwin and Lucy. Betty is remembered fondly by all who knew her for her ever-present smile and laughter.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church (7 Sunmills Green S.E.) on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
