Edward beloved husband of Iris Williamson passed away suddenly at W.C.C.C.C. Claresholm, on October 30, 2014 at the age of 92 years.

Born on March 15, 1922 in Cardenden, Fife, Scotland, Ed enlisted in the Royal Air Force in 1939 at the age of 17 years, in Bomber Command, attaining the rank of Leading Aircraftsman. Ed met and married his sweetheart Iris, while he was stationed in Essex, England. After marrying in Essex on August 3, 1946, Ed and Iris located to Edinburgh, Scotland where their four children were born. In 1973, Ed and Iris immigrated to Calgary where their eldest child, Catherine lived with her husband John and two children. Ed worked for Canadian Pacific Railways until his retirement in 1987. Ed’s hobbies included fly fishing, playing darts and coaching soccer. Ed was a member of Horton Road Royal Canadian Legion in Calgary.

He will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Ed leaves to mourn his wife of 68 years Iris; children Catherine (John) Connor, Edward (Rosanne) Williamson, Maureen (Rick) Barnaby and Jane Williamson. Also, grandchildren Jacqueline Connor, Steven (Cindy) Connor, Rebecca Jacobs, Fraser (Niamh) Williamson, Geoff (Meghan) Williamson, Mark Barnaby and Bradley Barnaby. Great-grandchildren Callum Chalmers-Connor, Caitlyn Chalmers-Connor, Madison Chalmers-Connor, Peyton Marie Williamson, Jax Williamson, Bennett Williamson, Caoimhe Williamson and Ciara Williamson. He was predeceased by his father, George Williamson in 1948 and mother Catherine (Kate) McGuire in 1956. His sisters, Agnes in 1976, Elizabeth in 1977, Alice in 1987, Catherine in 1999 and brothers George in 1989, John in 1993 and Michael in 1993.

Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through The Williamson Family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Bahn Al-Youssif and the staff of South Unit, Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre, Claresholm.

    There are many staff that adopted Eddie as a grandpa, he has touched all of us in different ways, there was never a dull moment when Eddie was hanging around the unit. His blue eyes lit up any room. Eddie is sadly missed by all staff.
