WILLGRESS – Sharon Maryann (nee McCormack)

August 12, 1957 – April 7, 2010

Sharon Maryann Willgress (nee McCormack), beloved wife of Robert (Bob) of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the age of 52 years after courageously battling a brain tumor.

Born on August 12, 1957 in Elk Point, AB, she moved to Calgary as a child where she attended school. When she was 16 years old, she joined Calgary Co-op, and would go on to be their youngest Head Cashier at 18. After a two year absence as a systems analyst for NCR she returned to Calgary Co-op in 1981 where she moved through the ranks from Head Cashier to Centre Manager. She and Bob were married on May 22, 1982. Sharon enjoyed family vacations to Mexico, loved Reba McEntire and enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball with Bob. Her biggest passion was being actively involved in her sons’ lives. She could usually be found watching them playing hockey or volunteering as a scorekeeper at a baseball game.

Besides her loving husband Bob, Sharon is survived by her two sons, David (Sarah) Willgress and Scott (girlfriend Kimi Zakreski) Willgress, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her parents, Bob and Olga McCormack; aunt and uncle, Gail and Bill Mudryk; grandmother Margaret McCormack, all of Calgary; mother-in-law Pat Willgress; sister-in-law Donna Willgress, both of Vancouver; and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Sharon’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. It is with great sadness we say goodbye to Sharon. We admired her courage as she bravely fought the cancer. She always had a smile and a kind word and was so appreciative. She loved her boys. They were her life and she was so proud of them. Bob, we share in your loss and pray that you will find comfort and peace in knowing that you did everything in your power to make Sharon comfortable. God bless,
