It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother on August 21, 2006 at the age of 88 years.
Marie was born on March 19, 1918 in St. John, NB. She received her laboratory training in St. John and after graduation she went to work at St. Mary’s Hospital in Montreal. She then moved to St. Thomas ON, to serve in the R.C.A.F. where she married her husband James M. Wilkie. Marie and Jim then moved to Calgary in 1945. Later Marie had the pleasure of working for Dr’s. Bruce and Bob Hatfield for five years, and then at the Holy Cross Hospital for 20 years until she retired. Marie was a member of the Catholic Women’s League for over 50 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Jim Wilkie; and Paul Wilkie; her daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Kelly Cowan; her grandchildren, Tara (Paul), Dana, Sean, Michael, Lisa, Jimmy and Ashley; and her great grandchildren Paige and Tai; as well as several nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her husband James M.; her sister Claire; and her brother Gerard.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday August 29, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. Private family Graveside Service at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
