June 16, 1961 – May 6, 2013
Corilla (Cori) Ann Wildeman (nee Mason) Born June 16, 1961, Died May 6, 2013. Cori left us all too soon after a significant struggle with an illness that had such an unfair advantage.
She leaves behind her loving husband John; her cherished children Jeffrey, Scott and Jennifer; parents Blair and Marlene; brothers Cameron (Angela), and Paul (Marina Susan); nieces Katherine and Francesca; nephews David, Steven, and Christian; in-laws Fern and Lorne; brother-in-law Tyler (Marnie); Aunt and Uncle Dorene and Gib Stiles and the Stiles family; Aunt Diane and the Lawford family, the extended Wildeman family, Gronsdahl family and numerous friends throughout Canada and colleagues at the Children’s Hospital. Her sister-in-law Carla predeceased her in 1981.
Cori was born in Calgary and was educated at Sunalta School and Western Canada High School where she first met John. She went on to receive her BSC in Speech Pathology and Audiology from University of Alberta in 1986 and a Masters in Clinical Sciences at the University of Western Ontario in 1988. John and Cori were married on March 6, 1993. Cori was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was multi-talented whether she was demonstrating athletic prowess on the ski hill or in track and field with City and Provincial championship victories, showing off her artistic flair in public speaking competitions, or achieving academic excellence throughout her education. Cori’s best times were spent with her family. She was immensely proud of her husband and children and her time with them at the farm in Priddis, the cabins in Windermere, on family vacations in Hawaii and on skiing outings in many places were always being recounted to family and friends. Her work as a speech pathologist at the Alberta Children’s Hospital was an integral aspect of her life too. She was compassionate and caring for all of her patients. Her joy at being able to help children with speech and hearing challenges was real and profound. She also contributed to the greater good of her profession through her extensive involvement with the Speech and Hearing Audiologists of Alberta, now the Alberta College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists including acting as the president of that association. Her sly sense of humour, infectious giggle and beautiful smile filled many rooms and our hearts.
