Wiest, Francis (Frank) Gregory

Francis (Frank) Gregory Wiest, beloved husband of Eileen Wiest of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Frank was born on September 5, 1920 to John and Eva Wiest in Prelate, SK. Among his many brothers and sisters, he was particularly close to Eva and his late sister Laura. Frank taught school for more than thirty years, spending much of that time as the principal at Moosomin Reserve in Saskatchewan. He married Eileen Magosse on June 8, 1950. Together their pride and joy were their children and, in later years, also their grandchildren. Frank was a kind, devoted family man who was deeply committed to his Catholic faith. After retiring from teaching, he worked for ten years as a commissionaire with the RCMP in North Battleford, SK. In 2001 Frank and Eileen moved to Calgary to be closer to family. Frank will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Frank is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years Eileen; sons, Gerry (Lorraine) of Courtney, BC and Reg of Calgary; daughters, Bernadine (Gary) of Medicine Hat, Annette of Calgary, and Michelle (Tom) of Long Grove, IL; and ten grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (1600 Acadia Drive S.E.) on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
