WHITE, Dorothy Marion (nee Hilz)

January 19, 1936 – Beiseker, Alberta
May 13, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta

Dorothy, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the age of 78 years.

Dorothy loved music, camping, raising her family, and spending time with her grandchildren, friends and neighbours. She was also a wonderful cook, and loved to bake. She was a generous soul, who always put forth 100% towards family and friends. She taught selflessness, unconditional love, understanding, forgiveness, and the importance of family.

Now I lay me down to sleep
I praise the Lord, my soul to keep,
If I shall die before I wake,
I pray the Lord, my soul to take,
*Taught by her mother Helen*

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband Norman; children Eric (Anne Marie), Pamela (Rob), and Shelly (Danny); grandchildren Katrina, Amanda, Teigan, Justin, Randy (Felicia), Garth and Emily; her twin brother Norman (Pat) and siblings Jean (Ed), Lloyd (Cathy) and Ronnie (Mary); brother-in-law Doug (Jean) and sister-in-law Bea (Family).

A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held in July. Thank you to Dr. Leung and the Care Teams on Unit 62 and Unit 42 at the Foothills Hospital for the care and attention they provided. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alberta Breast Cancer Foundation, 13160 – 118 Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5L 2L5.

Love and prayers go out to Auntie Dorothy’s close family in this difficult time. She was one in a million, always made people laugh and have a good time. She included everyone and didn’t like to beat around the bush. That’s the side of Auntie Dorothy I knew, and I’m sure she touched everyone in her own special way.
Love you Auntie Dorothy, God Bless. (Chefawn and Shaun)
