It is with great sadness that the Wesley family announce that Leslie Wesley, our beloved “Êda”, was called home by our Creator on August 26, 2013 at the age of 64 years.
Êda was strong believer in his Stoney Tradition heritage. He was a pipe holder amongst his people and presided over cultural functions when called upon. Êda received his education at the Morley Residential School from 1960-1965 and worked for the Stoney Cultural Patience Team throughout Southern Alberta as an elder native liaison worker. He participated in the Calgary Stampede from 1990-2013. Êda also worked with the Stoney Women’s Shelter. Êda is a great great great grandchild of Ta’otha.
Êda is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Annie Wesley; his children, Denise, Darryl (Laureen), Gabriel (Tiffany), Samantha (Harrum), Bernadine (Ace), Crystalian (Dennis) and best friends Charlie (Cassie) Mark and Joe Poucette (Dushee), his adopted children Cindy Noname, Cynthia Beaver, Braden Hunter, Deanna Wesley and Thomas Labelle. Ada cherished his 33 grandchildren; his 14 great grandchildren; also survived by his sisters, Mary Jane Wesley from Eden Valley, Donna, Georgie and Alice Kaquitts Jr.; his brothers Michael Wesley and Watson Kaquitts Sr.; sisters-in-law Mina, Beatrice, Ina, Zalinda; brother-in-law Mark Poucette Sr.; numerous other extended relatives and friends. We apologize if we have missed anyone.
Êda was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Susan Wesley; step-mother Alice Kaquitts Sr.; his children, Leslie Jr, Marvella and Cynthia; his brothers, Ken, Roy, Lawrence and Moses; sisters, Mabel and Veronica; grandchildren, Hendrick, Floydena and Maverick; and his in-laws Douglas and Beatrice Poucette.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Leslie “Bill” Wesley (Morley, AB) on Saturday, August 31, 2013 and Sunday, September 1, 2013. Funeral Services will be held at Morley Gymnasium (Morley, AB) on Monday, September 2, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A Graveside Service to follow at Wesley Cemetery (Morley, AB).
