WEISS, Alvin Walter

May 26, 1924 – August 8, 2011

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Alvin Walter Weiss at the age of 87 years.

Al lived his life with honesty, integrity and loyalty. He served with the PPCLI in Italy, France and the Netherlands during WWII. Al was very involved in the establishing and running of the Parkhill Community Association and many community members appreciated Al’s contributions. He was very competent and resourceful, always ready to lend a hand when called upon for help or direction. He was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Flames and the Blue Jays, and was passionate about playing crib with friends, family and most recently members of the Royal Park Crib Club.

He was a loving and dedicated father to Terrence (Rosemary), David (Edith) and Mary (Wade), and grandfather to Anita, Kimberly and Thomas. He will also be missed by his sisters Lilly Wilkinson (Roy) and Eleanor Wilkinson (Billy); sister-in-law Mildred; brother-in-law Ernie; numerous nieces and nephews; his former wife Anne and special friend Kay. Al was predeceased by his parents Mary and Louis; his brother Richie and his sister Delma.

A Celebration of Alvin’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.

  2. Emile , Rosemary, Katherine and Louis Rocher :

We remember Al with fondness for being a good neighbour with a generours spirit, always willing to share the fruits of his bountiful garden, especially the great strawberries. Black current bushes from his patch occupy a corner of our orchard today. We regret that we will be travelling and unable to attend but will be thinking of the familly. We are still in High River and would love to see Ann, Mary Dave of Terry and their children at any time.

  4. Jackie Parsons :

My Name is Jackie Parsons. I had cut Al’s hair for at least 20 years. I will really miss him. He was so kind & understanding. He also roomed with my Father-in-law Jack Parsons, when they both first came here after the war, so it is a small world, but your Dad will be missed with fond memories.
    Mrs. Jackie Parsons.
