WEINERT, Margaret Rose (nee Mayne)

January 25, 1947 – November 20, 2012

In our sorrow we hold on to our love and remember Penny.

She will be missed by her loving partner and best friend for the last thirty years, Richard Miller; her children, Christine (Dale), Michael (Jerilynn) and Teresa (Darrell); and her wonderful grandchildren, Claire (Ethan), Mathew, Eden, Ben and Quinn. Penny is also survived by her sister, Kathleen.

Penny’s greatest joy in life was her grandchildren and while known by many names (Penny, Mom, Margaret), her favourite name was Grammie and Grammie she will always be.

Born in Penetanguishene, ON, Penny spent the last ten years in Cochrane, AB enjoying her family. A woman of great strength, courage and integrity, she had a grace and spirit that endeared her to all she met. Her friends will miss her words of encouragement and wicked sense of humour.

A special thank you to the staff on Unit 46 at Foothills Medical Centre and a very special thank you to the wonderful people at Agape Hospice in Calgary for their care, love, and support.

A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Cochrane Funeral Home (369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. 15. To Richard, Christine, Michael & Teresa as well as the rest of the family whom I have not met, I offer my deepest sympathies at the loss of your wife and mother, Penny. She was one of the best friends I ever had, and I will miss her, too. I was stunned and saddened by the news. I knew her from when we were teens or pre-teens and used to ride my bike up and down her driveway, and she would thank me for each and every “turn”. We went for many “photo shoot” drives together, and just spent many good times together. She and her mother taught me to play cribbage, and she was so knowledgeable, that I learned many things from her. She had a lovely soul, a terrific sense of humour and an attitude of grace about her, and so she left me with many cherished memories. The ways that she and her family touched my life, have made me a better person, and I’m truly blessed to have known her.
    Ev “Ebby” Moreau.
