WEGH, Jack William

April 23, 1923 – March 23, 2013

Jack Wegh, beloved husband of Norma Wegh of Okotoks, AB, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the age of 89 years.

With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Born in Estevan, SK, Jack spent most of his childhood in Vulcan, AB, with his parents, Sigmond and Amanda, and sister, Luella. After moving to Calgary, he married his wife, Norma, and together raised their daughters in a happy home. As a geophysicist, he later travelled with his family to work in Nigeria and California. He retired in Calgary, where he enjoyed many hours laughing and sharing stories with loved ones. With his mix of irrepressible humour, wisdom, and compassion, Jack made friends everywhere he went. He was truly a wonderful man, and will be deeply missed.

Jack is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Norma; three daughters, Laurie Talley, Vicki Boehning, and Ann Stobbe (Rob); seven grandchildren, Mike, Cara (Mark), Ryan, Anna, Laura, Ben, and Jay; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jessa, Cole, Noah, and Annie; a loving extended family and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, son-in-law Marv Talley and grandson Christopher Talley.

A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Reception Centre (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the Southwood Hospice, 211 Heritage Drive SE, Calgary, Alberta T2H 1M9, Telephone: 403-252-1194. We would like to thank the staff at Unit 73 Rockyview Hospital and the Southwood Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.

  2. ILENE (HUGO) DUSKA :

    To Jack’s Family,
I would like to add to your good-bye to Jack as a dearly loved co-worker. I worked on his seismic team in the Geophysical Department of BA Oil, just when it was changing it’s name to Gulf. Jack was so soft spoken and so kind to us girls in the department it leaves us with fond memories of Jack. There is a saying that the world is better because some people live and Jack is one of those. My deepest Sympathy to the family on your loss.
