WARNICK, William “Bill”

December 28, 1916 – September 3, 2011

It is with sadness that the family announces that William Warnick passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 at the age of 94 years.

A native Calgarian, William graduated from high school in Calgary, served with the RCAF during WWII, and then went on to attend the U of A. After returning to Calgary, William worked in the oil industry for General Petroleum, Home Oil and in later years as a consultant. He retired at a youthful seventy two. An avid golfer, William spent many happy days on the greens at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club and other golf courses around the globe. He loved to garden and his yard was always filled with flowers.

He will be remembered by his children, Arlene, Barry (Judy), Robert (Anita), Deborah, and Wendy; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his special friend Ulla. William was predeceased by his wife Mary and sister Katie.

A Gathering Celebrating William’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, September 30, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. As well, the family would like to express gratitude for the wonderful care provided by the staff of the Colonel Belcher, Dieppe Wing. 2. This is very late but I just found this. My apologies,
I send along my sympathies to you, Wendy, and your family for the loss of your dad. I remember meeting him one holiday many years ago when I was welcomed to your home. He was a powerful force for sure.

  3. I met Bill and Mary only once in the fall of 1966 while dating their daughter Arlene who was attending U of A. They seemed a robust couple and were kind to me. In later times I heard respectful words about Bill from oil industry participants. I wish I had learned more from him about his RCAF experiences. It would be nice to hear from Arlene.
