WALTERS, Brian Robert

December 7, 1976 – February 28, 2015

Brian Robert Walters of Calgary, AB, died suddenly on February 28, 2015 at the age of 38 years after a relentless struggle with mental illness.

Brian was born in Calgary, AB on December 7, 1976 to Keith and Beverley Walters. He was raised in Calgary and graduated from the University of Calgary with degrees in Business and Psychology. Brian is blessed with a strong group of beautiful, loving friends who he admired and held in high esteem. He has two kittens, Mickey and Geyser, who he adored unabashedly. Brian worked with Telus and previously Calgary Hire-a-Student. He also worked tirelessly to support people through William Roper Hull School, the Distress Centre Crisis Line, Universal Rehabilitation Services Association, and his church community. He did this to ease the pain of others who were alone, scared or who just hadn’t laughed in a long time. His listening skills were genius, his heart was big and he offered his gifts without reservation to anyone in need.

Brian is survived by his parents Keith and Beverley Walters, his sister Karen Mitchell, her husband Robert Mitchell and their children Jemma Robinson, Cass Robinson, Gillian Mitchell, Spencer Robinson and Claire Mitchell, as well as his niece Ali Demuynck. He was predeceased by his elder brother Kevin Douglas Walters in November 1995.

His compassionate spirit, joy and talents will be celebrated at Deer Park United Church (77 Deerpoint Road SE, Calgary, AB) on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 11:00 am. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Canadian Mental Health Association, 400, 105 12 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2G 1A1 (403)297–1700 www.cmha.calgary.ab.ca  Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
