Garnet Cecil Grant Wallace, husband, father, brother, grandfather, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre on March 21, 2014 at the age of 64, after a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Garnet was born January 14, 1950 in Winnipeg, MB, the youngest child of Ed and Anna Wallace.
Garnet spent many childhood summers at Winnipeg Beach and Grand Beach and loved the outdoors. He attended the University of Manitoba and earned a Masters of Science in Geology. He met the love of his life, Patricia, in 1973 and they married in 1976. They moved to Calgary to start his career and their family. Garnet worked as a Geologist in the oil patch until 1989, when he could no longer work due to his illness.
He started his long-term stay at the Fanning Centre in 1994 and was very involved in social groups in his early years at the centre. A big thank you goes out to the staff of 1 East at the Fanning Centre who took great care of Garnet over the years.
Garnet is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Amber (Mike); son, Chris (friend, Lindsay); grandchildren, Hudson, Maeve and Teddy; siblings, Gayle, Georgette, Arnold (Geeta) and Sandra; and many nieces and nephews.
