Dorothy Walker passed away peacefully with her beloved partner, Peter, by her side on December 17, 2013, at the age of 79 years.
Dorothy was born and raised in Irricana, AB, where she spent the majority of her life. She became known as the “Queen of Volunteerism” through her work with the Ladies Club, the Irricana Food Bank, and the K.I.K. Seniors Club.
Dorothy is survived by her loving partner, Peter Santucci; son Guy (Jan) Walker; grandchildren Curtis (Nevada) Wright of Irricana, Tylor (Natasha) Walker of Grande Prairie, Carmen (Ian) Sjostrom of Airdrie, Shane Walker and Matthew Walker both of Calgary; great-grandchildren Lane and Kase Wright and Brynlee and Levi Walker; sister Betty Anderson of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends.
Dorothy is predeceased by her husband Edward (Ted) Walker and daughter Debbie de Jong.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held at the Irricana Community Hall, 300 – 1st Street, Irricana, AB commencing at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the doctors and the staff on the 6th floor of the McCaig Tower at the Foothills Hospital.
