Joel, I am so deeply sorry about the tragic passing of your mom, Brenda. I worked side-by-side with Brenda years ago and she was always so proud of you and spoke of you as you grew up with such love. Brenda was true to those she knew, a person who never lost faith in love and I hope you that as you continue to grow that you take this faith she had with you into your relationships. Good luck Joel and my deepest sympathy to you at this very hard time in your life.

Joel I never met you, but I worked with your mom at Bennett Jones for as long as she was with us (8 years I believe). Later we stayed in contact through Facebook. During our time at Bennett Jones, I had the privilege to have her counsel me through life’s challenges as well as the honour to have her share her life’s inspirations, joys and sorrows with me. I can say that you were a huge inspiration to her and she was so very proud of you. Your mother had a selfless heart and was willing to give of herself to all she knew with a patient and loving nature. The world is a much lonelier place without your mother, but I for one feel very blessed to have known her. May your many memories bring you a life time of comfort. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

It was over 20 years ago that I worked with Brenda, but I remember her very well. She was gentle, kind, generous and had a great sense of humor. I wanted you to know that even though we worked together a long time ago, I never forgot her. I am so very sorry for your tragic loss; and while the pain of losing her will always be there, I pray that with the passage of time, the joyful memories you have shared with her will begin to comfort you.

    May Brenda rest in peace.

    Joel,

I have never met you, but I worked with your mom over the last few years. When I heard of her passing, my first thoughts were of you. I have two young boys, so she and I spoke often about the mother-son bond. She would reminisce about when you were little and warn me that one day my sons will grow to be so much taller than me! She was so very proud of you and your accomplishments. She was a wonderful woman and will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Brenda’s mom and the rest of your family.

  29. I was so sad to learn of Brenda’s sudden passing. I am a friend of Brenda’s from her time in Cochrane and had just seen her last November when she told me she had moved to Strathmore. She seemed very happy at that time and I had hoped to visit her there in the new year. Brenda took the commuter bus to work from Cochrane, and all of us on the bus were extremely disturbed when we heard about this. I had been watching the Herald for her obit. and intended to attend her Celebration of Life – but only found out last night about it and am so incredibly sorry to have missed the opportunity. Brenda and I went to yoga and drumming classes together while she lived in Cochrane. She was a lovely person and was working at getting her life back together. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. I am so sorry for your loss. With kind regards, Susan Lewis

  32. To the Walker family,
I never met Brenda although she was an annual visitor to our office to meet with my late husband Dee Jay Schiller. When Dee Jay passed away suddenly two years ago, Brenda was so kind to me and supportive at a time when I really needed a friend. Only a kind, loving spirit could have reached out as she did to a person she did not know. I will always remember her.
