WAGNER, Franklin Delano

May 13, 1933 – November 20, 2011

Frank passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on Sunday, November 20, 2011 at the age of 78.

He was born in Stettler, AB where he grew up on the family farm. He later left home to attend Tech (S.A.I.T) in the city of Calgary where he studied drafting which was the beginning of a long career in construction. His vast experience included everything from timber frame construction and bridges to massive municipal projects. Frank could build anything, from fine furniture to high rise towers. He ended his working career self-employed in project management, primarily in the oil and gas industry doing plant, pipeline, and facility construction. He worked into his seventies because he loved building things and he loved hard work. Frank loved the ocean and he spent many trips on his boat the “Norma Fay” salmon fishing. He loved camping and the RV lifestyle. He created great memories for his family on these trips.

Frank was predeceased by his parents Bill and Mattie Wagner, brother Bill, and sister Margaret. He considered himself very fortunate to be married twice, both times to the same woman, Norma. He is survived by his wife Norma, and their two sons, Glenn (Susan) and Michael (Joanne), and four grandchildren, Randi, Kyle, April and Halla. Frank loved his family, and his family and friends loved him. He will be missed always and the love that he gave will be remembered forever.

A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), on Thursday, November 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Frank’s name to the charity of your choice. Special thanks go to the dedicated staff at the Foothills neurology unit for going the extra mile to make Frank comfortable.

In living memory of Frank Wagner, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200

    Dear Norma, Michael and Glenn
Whenever I think of Frank, I see him standing in the kitchen, welcoming us in with a “What can I get you?” I hear his slightly gruff voice, and see that smile that always seemed to start on just one side, slowly spread to the other side, and then break open when he laughed. I know that your own special memories of Frank will help sustain you and your family in this time of sadness.

We were very sorry to hear about Frank. Our sincere condolences to you, the boys and their families. We have very fond memories of Frank, starting from when you and he were dating, your wedding, when he lived for a short time at our place in Calgary when you were returning from the East, when you hosted a party at your house after our wedding open house and many other occasions. He was a great person and we always enjoyed seeing him and you of course.
