Raymond Arthur Wade beloved husband of Velia Wade of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the age of 89 years.
Ray attended a military academy in Dover, England and began official service in his late teens. During WWII, he was stationed in Trieste, Italy where he met the love of his life, Velia, who would become his wife for the next sixty-three years. They immigrated to Canada where he was employed in the oil industry until his retirement. During those years, he trained engineers in the field across Canada and in Libya.
After his retirement, Ray was active in his church community. His faith was an integral part of his life, and he served as an elder and was a core member of a weekly prayer group for many years. Many lives have been touched and inspired by his kindness, compassion, and humility.
Besides his loving wife Velia, Raymond is survived by his daughter, Maureen Goertzen and two granddaughters, Melissa and Megan.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
