  2. I had the opportunity to work with Terry through the Calgary Regional Partnership. He and I worked together to select the first Executive Director and it was a pleasure to get to know Terry through that process. Terry and I had many philosophical battles during our tenure on the exec. committee of CRP but I never doubted his passion for his community. Terry was always the consummate gentleman and for that I was always grateful.

    Linda Bruce

Tell me not, in mournful numbers,
Life is but an empty dream!
For the soul is dead that slumbers,
and things are not what they seem.
Life is real! Life is earnest!
    And the grave is not its goal;
Dust thou art; to dust returnest,
Was not spoken of the soul.

As we know so well, the passage of time never really heals the tragic memory of such a loss, but we carry on, because we must, because our loved one would want us to, and because there is still light to guide us in the world from the love they gave us.

    We carry on.

God, continue to bless Terry Waddock; and may he rest in eternal peace.

  5. Theresa Chipchase :

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Terry for a number of years and the one thing I remember most is how much he loved his family and spoke often of the incredible accomplishments of his children. I admired him immensely for his conviction to the landowners he was elected to represent and his true sense of compassion. I have also had the pleasure of meeting his son James and his daughter Sarah and I must say how impressed I was with their eloquence and their deep adoration for their father. Terry was present within them both that was ever evident. It is with great sadness that I say how much Terry will be missed among us. His warm smile and his great sense of humour are things I will cherish about my time spent in his company. My heart goes out to all of Terry’s family, he was an amazing soul.

    Sincerely
    Theresa Chipchase

I am a volunteer at the “Y” and always enjoyed seeing Terry sweating on the treadmill. He loved to chat and share memories of life in the UK (I am from London) and he had such a wicked sense of humour.
    May he rest in peace.

    Mrs. Waddock and Family,

I wish to convey my deepest sympathies to you on the passing of Terry. For many years while Terry was on Council he was one of my toughest opponenets. I knew that if I had satisfied Terry that I had done a good job for not only my clients but the people of Priddis. I will always remeber and respect the way that Terry gave of his time and advice on my behalf and of the people he represented. My funniest memory was the day we met at Priddis Greens to review some issue or another at Hawks Landing and he showed up in deep hip waiters to protect his golf pants as he also had a tee time since he was there anyway. He was one in a million.

    Fondly, Kristi Beunder

We are so sorry that Terry and all your family had to struggle with cancer, and don’t we wish that those we love the most and deserve it the least wouldn’t have to deal with such a nasty disease. Flor always appreciated how well prepared Terry always was as a councillor, and could make the best decisions because of that. He was a gentle man and a gentleman, and we truly enjoyed his and your friendship. You are all in our hearts as you miss and mourn one of the really good guys. Most sincerely,
    Flor & Margaret

I had the great pleasure of knowing Terry for the past ten years or so and was able to work closely with him while he was the Chair of the Foothills Regional Emergency Services Commission. Terry was very a passionate advocate and was a true friend to EMS and 911 services in Southern Alberta. I learned a great deal from him as we traveled throughout the province. I will miss him.
Maggie – thank you for all the great lunches and allowing our business into your home all those years ago. Thank you sharing Terry so freely with us. Keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless

    Dear Maggie and Your Family
Words cannot express how sad we feel for you and your family at this time of loss.
We are never ready to say good bye to anyone, but of course someone so dear to us as a father, husband or child is unbearable.
Our untimely meeting 19 years ago after Kevin’s accident and one year after our son Colin’s death was unbelievably sad, I remember wondering how we would ever carry on. But we did and as we know now only time, faith and the love of family and friends helps heal such deep wounds.
May you know we are thinking of you and offering you our condolences on Terry’s passing.

My condolences — it has been some time since I visited Calgary but when I was there I had a “family” in Terry and Maggie and all the children. What a wonderful friend Terry was sharing with me both his family and his work at Shell — I will miss him but am enriched by his contributions to my life.

  29. Mrs. Waddock and family. I recently learned of Terry’s passing. Our paths crossed for many years in intermunicipal planning matters. As a City of Calgary employee, I often represented differing views on issues that were important to both of our municipalities. But Terry was always eloquent, knowledgable and fair in his perspectives on behalf of his Council. It was a pleasure knowing Terry, and he will be missed as part of the regional planning scene.
