November 24, 1987 – Calgary, Alberta
May 3, 2014 – Revelstoke, British Columbia
Dustin beloved son of Stan and Tracy Wadden of Cochrane, AB, passed away on May 3, 2014 at the age of 26 years.
Dustin graduated from Bow Valley High School in 2006. He was a sports fan playing Lacrosse since age 9 with Rockyview Rage/Silvertips Lacrosse and playing football while attending Bow Valley High School. Dustin lived in Victoria BC to play Junior A Lacrosse with the Shamrocks in 2008. Recently he worked for Rebel Transport and hauled heavy oilfield equipment. Dustin loved the open road and enjoyed the challenges of his job. Dustin was a kind, dedicated, compassionate, adventurous and spontaneous free spirit. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved working with leather in his free time, as well as hiking and taking his motorbike out on the road when he could. Dustin was the best son and brother anyone could have hoped for, and will be dearly missed by all the people that love him.
Dustin is survived by his parents, Stan and Tracy; his sister, Tawny; his brother, Derek; his paternal Grandmother, Bonnie Wadden; his 2 special canine companions, Linkin and Montana; and numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by his paternal Grandfather, Reg Wadden; and his maternal Grandparents Barb and Buddie Boys.
A Celebration of Dustin’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Cochrane Funeral Home (369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, because of Dustin’s love for animals, we ask that you make a memorial donation directly to the Animal Rescue Foundation of Alberta (P.O. Box 34160 RPO Westbrook Calgary, AB T3C 3W2 www.arf.ab.ca) in lieu of flowers.
In living memory of Dustin Wadden, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Cochrane Funeral Home, 369 RAILWAY STREET, COCHRANE. Telephone: (403) 932-4740.

Dear Tracy, Stan, Tawny and family,
There are no words to describe the shock and sadness we feel for you and for ourselves, as Dustin has been a part of our family since the boys started kindergarten. I always referred to Dustin as my second son because he was such a good, kind-hearted, friendly kid, and Tom’s best buddy. We were so happy to be able to take in one of his lacrosse games while staying in Victoria, and we made sure he had a seat at Tom’s grad table since they finished high school in different schools. We had a great time with him the year he joined us for a holiday in Maui. We love and miss you Dustin and always will. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and please know we are grieving along with you on this heartbreaking journey.
With our Love and Prayers,
Greg and Wendy Mayer
Dearest Tracy, Stan and Tawny,
I cannot imagine the pain of your devastating loss. I can only offer my prayers and heartfelt sympathy at this terrible time, as no words can change what has happened or take away your pain. I am so deeply sorry xo.
I am so sorry to learn, from cousin Gayle Murphy, of the tragic death of your son. My family’s thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Anne Mancell (cousin of Bonnie)
Tracey, Stan, Tawny my thoughts are with you at a time like this. I also keep thinking of the times Dustin and me shared together. One really special moment was when I got a phone call at 1 am from his coach ” hello is this Dustin’s cousin? Yup can you come down and pick up Dustin he dislocated both shoulders and needs a ride home. Okay I ll be there in 10 min.” So I showed up and guess who is flirting with the nurse! Giving her cat calls and telling her she is beautiful even trying to ask her out the nurse played along with it. Trust Dustin with his looks to get a date in the hospital. I wasn’t allowed to tell the coach but we stopped that night and ate a lot of Wendy’s burgers! I will miss Dustin a lot he was always a ear to hear you and helped me through a tough time! Rest In Peace love you and miss you.
We are very sorry to hear about the loss of your son. We want to offer our deepest condolences. Jola and Darek Surmanowicz

Stan, Tracy, Tawny- Sending our love from the east coast!! We have many memories of Dustin but the one that stands out is him being so unconsolable as a young toddler(I babysat him) when Mommy went to work. My loving Mom would love/comfort him till he was his usual smiling self. He was such a kind/gentle/happy being and as we saw him throughout his life that was a common thread(except maybe on the Lacrosse venue). Our families have many woven threads throughout the years and have nothing but respect for the strong family unit that you all nurtured. Wonderful memories will pave the road to some form of acceptance…. With Love The Youngs
Dearest Tracy, Stan and Tawny.

You are constant in my thoughts.

We are so sorry to hear of the very sad news of Dustin’s passing. Even though we haven’t see you all in years we do have some fond memories of sharing a side by side duplex with you in Whitehorn when Tawny and Dustin were young. Dear Tracy, Tawny, Stan and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in your time of loss. I feel a special connection to your family through the lifelong friendship between Tracy’s Mom, Barb and my Mom, Theresa. Mom passed away in 2011 and I had the sad task of organizing her belongings. There was a complete photo album dedicated to Barb’s children with many pictures of Dustin and Tawny as they grew up. Our paths crossed many times throughout the years with my boys knowing Dustin from school and the many times that I visited with Dustin when he came to the sports centre for Lacrosse. Your family has been a part of my life since I was a child and even though we have not been in close contact my heart aches for you in this tragic time. Our deepest sympathy to your family from Keith, Grant and myself and also on behalf of my Mom who loved your family deeply.
Sincerely,
Donna Dougan

I’m sorry for your loss Wadden family. I will always remember him as being the first captain in the history of the Rockyview Silvertips Jr. Lacrosse Club. Many young lacrosse players from around Cochrane are inspired by how far Dustin took his lacrosse, from a small town Rockyview program all the way to Victoria. He led by example and always loved coming to the arena. He taught many young men what it took to play lacrosse at a high level. Stan and Tracy he could have not done it without your support, driving him through blizzards to Airdrie and Crossfield for many lacrosse practices over the years. The world lost a great man, role model, and lacrosse player. Rest in peace Dustin.
Stan, Tracey, Tawny and Derik
During this time of sorrow may you be comforted by Family and Friends. May your cherished memories of Dustin support you through all of your tomorrows. Deepest Sympathy.

Dustin and I went to elementary school together at Holy Spirit, and although I hadn’t spoken to him in many years, I have so many fond memories of him.
