Kenneth (Ken) Volk passed away peacefully on Friday, February 1, 2008 at the age of 45 years after putting up a brave three week fight in the Intensive Care Unit of the Rockyview General Hospital.
Ken was born in Cardston, AB to Charles and Velma Volk on August 7, 1962. He was the light of their lives. Ken was a handsome and intelligent young boy who excelled in school. As a teenager a favourite activity for Ken was to antagonize his little sister Denise. Growing up they shared many life experiences, laughter and tears. Ken attended Bishop Grandin High School and soon after started his first “real” job at EMCO Corporation. Ken enjoyed a successful twenty-two year career receiving several promotions and making many good friends. One of Ken’s favourite after work hangouts was the Three Coyotes Pub where he continued to build special relationships with many people. It was at Three Coyotes Pub where he met and fell in love with Monique Richards, who captured his heart on the dance floor. They were together for the past 7 years and it was during this time that Ken shared his passion for NASCAR racing, the outdoors, and especially camping where he introduced her to his favourite camping spot at Blue Rock. He also enjoyed taking Monique on many day trips showing her the beauty of Alberta. Special memories were created and have been kept close in their hearts.
Over the last three years Ken struggled with his health but he never lost his smile or his positive outlook on life. Ken was a man with a big heart, gentle soul and great sense of humour. He was a great friend who was always willing to lend an ear, offer a hug or a shoulder to cry on.
Ken was a great friend to many; a special love to Monique; a son to his mom Velma; a big brother to Denise (Paul); and an Uncle to Luke and Serena. Ken was predeceased by his Dad, Charles; his Grandma and Grandpa Volk; his Granny and Grandpa Fullerton; his Uncle George Volk; and his cousin Kevin Cseke.
Ken you were always loved. We are so proud of you!
