VOELK, Adolf

July 5, 1934 – Bad Worishofen, Germany
July 10, 2014 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with sad hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our Dear Father and Grandpa Adolf Voelk, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Adolf was born in Germany during very difficult times, these experiences gave Adolf the determination and fortitude to immigrate to Canada in 1957 to begin a new life as a young man. He worked as a carpenter and soon was a Superintendent on many large projects throughout Calgary. He married Sophie Sirch in 1961 and began their family and life together, sadly Sophie passed away in 1999. Adolf was a good man and those who knew him loved to be with him to share a laugh, a story and good times. He was a member and past President of the Bearspaw Lions Club, he enjoyed traveling, but most of all he loved his home in Bearspaw. We were Blessed to have our family together to celebrate Dad’s 80th birthday at the Fairmont Resort, it was truly a wonderful time.

Adolf is survived by two sons and daughter-in laws, Peter and Cheryl Voelk and Robert and Wendy Voelk and his daughter Christine Forigo, all of Calgary; as well as seven grandchildren, Ryan, Lindsay, Alexa, Ava, Marcus, Katherine and Brock whom he cherished. Adolf is survived by Donna Pfiefer his long time companion. Also his dear life long friends Hank, Lydia and Rob Jobst.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Crowfoot, 82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Boniface German Catholic Church (1923 Broadview Road N.W.) on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through

Even though he’s gone his memory remains in our hearts. His smile and face will never fade. We think of him as we go on each day. The good times we remember, and the days spent together will be in our memories forever. So when you start to get down and you really want to cry just think of the fun times and don’t wonder why. He is in a better place now. His heart is right with God. So Adolf we love you and we miss you so much, but we know you’re much happier. So watch over and make sure we’re okay and we will see you again someday

Memories of Adolf will always be with me. I enjoyed his friendship very much and when my dad passed away he was there to help fill the gap. It was always a great day when he showed up at my door and asked if it is tea time (which meant tea with brandy in it) . We had many a talk and it always seemed to include mentions of all of you as well as the great trips he went on with Donna. Recently his stories included his 80th birthday and that it was his best birthday ever with the family. He was a good friend and I don’t think I will ever have another tea without thinking about him and the good times we shared. He will be missed by all of us.

  7. Svend Jensen/Dolly Deeley :

What a shock to hear of the sudden passing of Adolf. He was dear friend and neighbour since 1976. Our Times together were many different venues throughout the years, cutting Christmas trees, clearing snow in the winter, many Oktoberfest entertainment nights, watching hockey games together with other neighbours at the Voelk house, playing pool at the Jensen house and as always each event was full of laughs, fun and many a good drink in friendship. Svend will always have Adolf in his heart and remember his pet name for Svend as being “Swenson”. Rest in peace dear friend.
Sincerest sympathy to Peter, Rob and Christene and their families.
    Svend and DOlly
