Lou Violini, beloved husband of Maureen Violini of Calgary, died on Friday, January 4, 2008 at the age of 75 years after a long battle with diabetes. He spent his final years at the Fanning Centre. Lou’s strong faith and deep devotion to the Blessed Mary helped comfort him in his struggle.
Lou is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Maureen; his son Rob (Sue) and daughter Pat (Paul); his four granddaughters, Nicole (Chris), Telesa (Herb), Tara (Colin) and Lindsay; a grandson Ryan; dear friends of the family, Cheryl and Gary Goldthorpe and many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews. Lou was predeceased by his parents Nicolina and Natale Violini; his infant brother Joseph; brother-in-law Emmet Reidy and many other dear friends.
Lou was a native Calgarian. He went to St Angela’s Elementary, St. Anne’s Junior High and graduated from St. Mary’s High School. He began many ventures, including a lengthy stint with Trans-Canada Airlines, now Air Canada. Those who knew Lou were blessed with his hospitality, humour and inventive storytelling. Nobody could tell a story like Lou. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan.
A sincere thanks to the staff at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre, Unit 3 West and the Dialysis Unit for their loving care and support.
