If I could take your hurt,
    close my hands about it,
    whisper sweet changes,
    incantations to a loving nature,
    you’d become butterflies
    free to breathe spring’s bouquet.
If I could chase away the shadows ‘neath your brow,
    I’d fill your mind
with happy tales of brighter days,
    tickle your sensibilities,
    make you giggle.
Alas, just a friend, all I can do is care.
    I do. author unknown.

“Deb”, Many times spent together, joy and sorrow. You touched our family in a special way, we will always have you in our heart and prayers.

Hope is the thing with feathers
    That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
    And never stops at all,

    And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
    That kept so many warm.

I’ve heard it in the chillest land
    And on the strangest sea;
    Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Debbie was a wonderful friend to me for the past 30 years and even though we were miles apart Debbie always took the time to keep in touch by calling me every week. Debbie always had an encouraging word and truly possessed the quality of kindness and genuine concern for others. She had a big heart and she cared deeply about her family and friends and was always the first to lend a helping hand while never expecting anything in return. Debbie accepted her illness with grace and dignity she tackled it with positivity never asking “why me” I will truly miss our long chats and friendship. I too wish I could be there for Blair & Nathan but my thoughts and prayers are with you both.

  21. My heart is broken with Debbie’s passing, We have been friends since she came to work with me at Montreal Trust in 1981. Talking on the phone weekly keeping up to date with each others lives and what was happening in each others family. I will miss those phone calls.
I will hold dear the fun times we had at home out to the Steamer or the Sundance. Trips up to Lucille’s and Irene’s homes. Camping in Lamanche park, Glenn’s cabin & your trip down to visit me in Connecticut.

Blair, my heart goes out to you and Nathan. Debbie was a beautiful person with a heart of gold and you were so fortunate to have her in your lives.

    I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free,
I’m following the path God has laid you see.
I took his hand when I heard his call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to work or play
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found the peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joys-
    A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Oh yes, these things I too will miss
Be not burdened with times of sorrow
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee-
God wanted me now, he set me free.
