I am thankful for the time I was able to know him, chat with him and enjoy his company. He was one of the good guys and his loss is a tragedy.

I am very sorry to hear of Marino’s passing.

I clearly remember Marino as one of the people in the EVDS faculty who could always be counted on for a smile and a cheerful word. He was sincerely interested in helping students to enjoy our time at UofC and to get our work wrapped up. When I helped to instruct an intro computing course, Marino was an ever-present help and an invaluable resource.

Marino will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this difficult time.

  17. As one of countless EVDS alumni that was fortunate enough to be the recipient of Marino’s cheerful help and support (on an embarassing number of occasions for a grad student) over the last 16 years, I would hazard to say that there is a huge tsunami of sadness emerging from this community at this moment. However, I hope that this tsunami takes the form of reciprocated support, patience and friendship that Marino gave unconditionally to the students, and hope that it can engulf Marino’s family in warmth, comfort and love during this difficult time. There is no question Marino will be very sorely missed. All the EVDS grad students were impacted by a handful of professors and vice versa; but Marino’s outreach touched nearly everyone in the faculty. I believe everyone will take pride in being blessed by Marino’s tremendous contribution and celebrate this until the sunrise!
