Van Maarion, Rae

Mrs. Rae Van Maarion, beloved mother and friend, and a long-time resident of the Crossfield area (most recently Airdrie), passed away peacefully into Heavenly Father’s care on February 18, 2008 at the age of 88 years. Rae is survived by her loving sister Eileen Borton (Campbell River). She will be dearly missed by her children Peter (Kay) of Cochrane, Reo (Janice) of Rocky Mountain House, Brian (Diana) of Airdrie, Brenda (Patrick) of Grande Prairie, Twelve Grandchildren, Fourteen Great Grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rae was predeceased by her husband John Van Maarion in 2001; she was also predeceased by two Brothers and seven Sisters. Rae was born at Sampsonton (Madden), Alberta in 1919 to Katherine and Colin Dunningham. In 1939, she married John Van Maarion and together they raised their family on the Ranch west of Crossfield. Rae was a very active and long standing member of the Crossfield Community, and a life time member of the Rebekah and Royal Purple Lodges. A Memorial Service will be held at Crossfield United Church on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. A Family Graveside Service will be held at Crossfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Cedarwood Station (304 – 1st Ave NW, Airdrie, Alta, T4B 0C4) in Trust – referencing – contribution to the Rae Van Maarion Memorial benches to be placed in the Garden Court Yard Gazebo.
