May 31, 1924 – September 25, 2012
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our precious wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Mary Catherine Uttley (nee MacCalder). Mary slipped peacefully and gently from our embraces in the evening on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at the age of 88 years.
Her journey began on a farm in Milestone, Saskatchewan but she considered the Black Diamond/Turner Valley area her “home,” once the family settled there in 1930. The fifth of eight children in a family with a lively Scottish and Irish heritage, Mary thrived on the love of her parents, five brothers and two sisters. She enjoyed life to the fullest, facing each and every challenge with strength and optimism. These qualities helped her experience many different careers with great success, acquiring life-long friends and acquaintances. Mary was a member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church and the 264 Royal Canadian Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
Forever cherishing her memory will be her devoted husband and friend Jack; daughters, Maureen Fedoruk and Cathy (Kevin) Ward; granddaughters, Erin Fedoruk, Kelly (Cory) Reissig, Sarah Ward, and Sheena (John) Vanliere; and great-grandchildren, James, Cameron, Rileigh, Robert and Ryder. She will also be missed by her brothers, Doug and Morley (Erica) MacCalder; sisters-in-law, Helene and Margaret MacCalder; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents Neil and Sarah MacCalder; siblings, Don and Jack MacCalder, Flora Deines, Allan and Fernie MacCalder; sisters-in-law, Agnes, Esther, Lois and Marge MacCalder; and beloved nieces and nephews.
Mary will be in our hearts forever.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
