Zoë Tyson of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the age of 90 years.
Born in North Ferriby, Yorkshire, United Kingdom, Zoë was educated at North Ferriby School and attended the University of Toronto after emigrating from England to Canada in 1971. She lived in Toronto from 1971 until 1977 at which point she relocated to Calgary.
Zoë married James Crichton Campbell in 1942. He was an RAF fighter pilot and was shot down and killed in 1943. Together they had a son, Crichton James Campbell who was born only two months before his father died. Zoë married Brian Tyson in 1965 and had four step-children, Mandy, Michael, Jane and David. Zoë worked for Royal Insurance for many years in Toronto and Calgary until her retirement at age 60. She was an associate member of the Canadian Legion and the Air Crew Association for many years. She loved the French language and culture and began learning French in her seventies. She moved to Montreal for three years from 1995 to 1998. She also had a big romance with the Royal Family, and the highlight of this romance came when she was invited to attend the Queen’s garden party at Buckingham Palace for her eightieth birthday. After suffering a crippling stroke at age 85, she resided in Father Lacombe Care Centre.
Zoë is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Crichton Campbell and Anna Campbell; step-children, Mandy, Michael, David, and Jane Tyson; grandchildren, Patrick, Jonathan, Joanna and Andrew; and great-grandchildren, Zoe, Max and Liam. She was predeceased by her first husband James Crichton Campbell and her second husband Brian Tyson.
