On Wednesday, November 20, 2013 Marjorie Turnbull (née Spence), sweetheart for over sixty years and beloved wife of John, was mercifully released after a long and debilitating illness.
Marjorie was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. After graduating from Moray House Teachers Training College, Marjorie taught at Leith Links Primary School in Edinburgh until her marriage in 1961. John and Marjorie settled in Musselburgh where John was a family physician and Marjorie dedicated herself to raising their two children. In 1969, they immigrated to Alberta, Canada. Marjorie took great pride in her family and their Scottish heritage, putting on fantastic parties for the Canadian and expat community in Calgary, and caring for her much-loved dogs and cats.
Marjorie is survived and mourned by her husband John; her son Alan and his wife Robin and grandson Hamish; her daughter Fiona and her husband Allen, grandson Iain and granddaughter Sara; her sister Audrey and her husband Mirko; and nieces and nephews in Great Britain. Marjorie was predeceased by her brother Tom.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
