William A. Troughton passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the age of 85 years.
Born in Winnipeg, he served on a Royal Canadian Navy mine sweeper during WWII. In 1951, he obtained his law degree from the University of Manitoba, after which he became a member of both the Manitoba and Alberta bar associations. His legal career, which spanned fifty years of unique expertise, encompassed crown prosecution, counsel in the oil and gas industry and private practice. In 1984 he was appointed to the Provincial Court of Alberta, a judicial position he held until retirement. Predeceased by his wife Betty in 2009, he is survived by a daughter Helen from a previous
marriage, stepson Kim Megaffin, stepgrandson Collin Megaffin and extended relations.
